From Chicago Region Trees Initiative Annual Partner Recognition Celebration:

There are excellent speakers lined up to talk about Urban Heat Island Effect and Climate Change including Dr. Vivek Shandas, professor of Climate Adaptation at Portland State University and a Principal at CAPA strategies and Tanner Yess, an inspiring leader and co-founder of Groundwork Ohio River Valley working to build the green workforce through Climate Safe Neighborhoods in Cincinnati. 
There are also an exceptional panel of experts from around the region to weigh in with their climate and heat related work. This includes: 

  • Raed Mansour, Director of Innovation for the City of Chicago Department of Public Health,

  • Dr. Ashish Sharma, Environmental Science Division, Argonne National Laboratory, and Climate and Urban Sustainability Leader, Discovery Partners Institute

  • Dr. Christy Rollinson, Forest Ecologist and Climate Scientist at The Morton Arboretum

  • Kevin Burns, Mayor, Village of Geneva, and member of the Executive Board for the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus. He also helped to develop the Climate Action Plan for the Chicago region.

    As a bonus, anyone registered will be able to come to The Morton Arboretum earlier in the day—be advised, the onsite Restaurant closes at 2 p.m. and the Visitor Center, including the Cafe, closes at 4 p.m.
